DIRECTIONS IN ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURES
Due to an increasing competition between organizations, there is a great emphasis on organization structures and to determine which structure is the best for what kind of organization. Organizational structures are developed to make changes in fields such as greater customer orientation, technology utilization, and productivity improvements. In order for managers to structure their organizations in a way where there are constant improvements being made, managers need to develop new ways of structuring their organization in order to gain more success. Organizations that have a well developed structure, have a competitive advantage against the other organizations due to the increased cost efficient productivity operations. New organizational structures are headed towards horizontal structures which focus on less hierarchy, empowerment, technology and the talents of the workers lead the organization to higher performance.
